Let's Get Tough

1942, Movie, NR, 62 mins

The Bowery Boys fight for their country by giving the once-over to an antique shop owned by a Japanese man. They are shocked to find the man stabbed in his store. It's not long before they get their hands on a secret Japanese message which exposes a Black Dragon Society plot to overthrow the government. Shot during WW II, LET'S GET TOUGH (titled LITTLE MACARTHURS during production) illustrates the country's "anti-Jap" sentiments, carefully avoiding confusion between them and the Chinese. Today the film still isn't shown by television stations in places like San Francisco and Los Angeles in deference to those cities' Japanese communities. leave a comment
