A princess-and-the-plebian romantic comedy with Clarke, a moneyed miss, attempting to catch the attention of an insouciant playboy. Failing to meet him through more conventional means, she fakes a near-drowning, hoping that he will play lifeguard and fish her out of the briny deep. Instead, brash roughneck sailor Morris reacts and pulls off the "rescue." Amidst her snooty friends, she amuses herself by patronizing the gabby gob, betting her peers that she can make him socially acceptable. Clarke lands Morris a job with her uncle's brokerage house and proceeds to turn him into a silk purse. Morris discovers the terms of the bet and reacts with rage (you can dress him up, but you can't take him anywhere), crashing her car and injuring himself. Reacting to the reality of his pain, she discovers she loves the macho miscreant. Predictable but pleasant. leave a comment
