Colbert divorces her husband, Carey, after 20 years of marriage. She leaves him because he's a chronic gambler. Their daughter, Bates, tries to get them back together. Colbert's old flame, Scott, comes back into town and he's become a millionaire. He begins seeing her again and when Carey finds out he goes out of his way to try to split them apart.
