Ellen uses her inheritance to visit Scotland, the land of her ancestors. En route she meets salesman Martin, who tries to win her heart. Ellen quickly spends all her money, unbeknownst to once-prosperous lord Flemyng, who is under the impression that she is loaded. When he discovers that
she is as poor as he is, he ceases courting her. Returning to the States, Ellen finds Martin waiting for her. This film is a musical reworking of the Aimee Stuart play that also provided the inspiration for JEANNIE (1941) and LET'S BE HAPPY (1952).
