LEOPARD, THE | IL GATTOPARDO | LE GUEPARD

Butchered for its initial 1963 U.S. release, Luchino Visconti's superb, sumptuous epic about the decline of the Italian aristocracy finally earned the acclaim it deserves when a restored version hit theaters 20 years later. Burt Lancaster plays an elderly prince struggling to come to terms with the rapidly changing Italian social structure of the 1860s.
