Tracy is a fast-talking racetrack bum who swindles $100 from an old, ailing man. He takes it on the lam and ends up in a small town where he marries Mack. She talks him out of going back to the big city and they settle down and have a child. Things are going perfectly until Tracy's wife discovers that she has a potentially fatal illness.
