This docu-drama features a Bigfoot-like creature that allegedly terrorizes the small town of Fouke, Arkansas, near the Texas border. Usually seen as a dark, shambling shape running across someone's headlight beams on stark country roads, the creature makes several attacks on people, tossing
their garbage cans around, rocking trailer homes, and occasionally sticking his arm in someone's window and scaring the kids. The film is crudely made but fairly effective. Its "G" rating attracted lots of little kids not usually able to see a horror movie in a theater, and they got a couple good
scares. A sequel, RETURN TO BOGGY CREEK, was released in 1977.
