Hotchkis, who also wrote the screenplay and the play that this film based on, is a poor little rich girl who grows bored with her life. She engages in mind games, self-denigration, and slowly sinks into madness. Her performance is a genuine tour-de-force. Unfortunately, the direction never matches it, and the ending is anticlimactic. leave a comment
