Rather obvious plot has contralto Faye as a nightclub singer in a sleazy Shanghai spot when ladies' man Ayres arrives in town and sweeps her off her feet. The sailor is in port for only a short time, then returns to the US with his ship. Because he doesn't feel he can support Faye on his meager wages, Ayres writes to tell her that they can't see each other again.
