Browne, a struggling young actress, joins her father Daly when he moves into his sister's boarding house. The woman works the pair to death, but Browne manages to find love in the form of Thompson, a would-be songwriter. The two begin a romance, but this is nearly dashed when the star actress of the local pantomime company becomes jealous and conspires to destroy their love.
