Larceny

A gang of confidence tricksters led by Duryea descends on a small town in southern California intending to cheat Caulfield, the widow of a war hero, out of her savings by having her put up money for a memorial to her late husband. Payne is the smooth-talking front man for the gang, who finds himself unable to go through with the scheme when he falls in love with the mark. Further complications are added by Winters, Duryea's moll, who has a hankering for Payne. The unhappy ending has Payne turning himself and the whole gang in to the police.
