Jewels are being stolen around London and it's up to detective Buchanan, with the help of wife Randolph, to find out who's behind the crime. The trail leads him to a barber shop that's used for fencing the hot gems. Buchanan nearly has a close shave (literally) but is saved in the nick of
time. Though Buchanan gives a funny performance, using his comic gifts with finesse, the film is well below his talents. Direction shows no sense at all for suspense or comedy, instead relying on rudimentary filmmaking cliches that were old-fashioned well before silents started to talk.
