Lockwood plays a concert pianist dying from a weak heart who, wishing for one last fling, has an affair with ex-RAF pilot Granger, who for his part has a disease that is causing him to go blind. Neither allows the other to know of the malady each is suffering, until Lockwood finds out through Granger's fiancee, Roc, that Roc has talked him into turning down a dangerous operation that has little chance of success.
