This gangster film attempts to portray a female counterpart to the earlier SCARFACE. Anderson, the leader of a gang responsible for a number of robberies and murders, has a large scar which has left her permanently disfigured. Embittered, she has turned to a life of crime. O'Keefe, the police detective in charge of tracking down the gang leader, is unaware that she is a woman. Well-paced direction helps to gloss over the many weaknesses in the script. Performances are efficient, except for Anderson, who is miscast as a toughened criminal. leave a comment
