In this attempt at a psychological thriller Havoc overhears a conversation between pianist Mason and his wife in a hospital. He wants to disobey the doctor's orders by taking her to their country home. When Havoc suffers a miscarriage, her husband rents a country home for her convalescence. The home turns out to belong to Mason, whose wife has recently passed away. Havoc recalls the conversation she overheard and, in her dazed state, imagines she is taking the place of Mason's dead wife. Neither the performances nor the narrow direction are able to help save this confusing script. Mason even sings in this one, which doesn't help the film one bit. Songs include: "My Heart Asks Why" (Hans May, Hermione Hannen), "It's You I Love" (Allie Wrubel), "More Wonderful Than These" (Spier, Kay Thompson). leave a comment
