Robinson plays an aging grape grower in search of a wife. He spots Banky waitressing at a restaurant and asks for her hand in marriage by way of a letter and photograph of himself, as they have never met. But the photograph he encloses is actually that of his handsome young assistant, Ames, since Robinson fears Banky may turn him down if she knows he is old and a cripple as well.
