Lewis heads for California after being jilted by the girl he loves. He decides he will become a woman-hater, but this becomes tough when he gets a job in a boardinghouse full of vivacious ladies. They're all crazy about him, thinking that he's a lovable moron. (They're half right.) He's afraid, though, that he's not wanted and prepares to leave, but the women persuade him to stay. Some odd cameos include Harry James doing a version of his tune, "Bang Tail," and George Raft as a tough guy who does the tango. There are also some elaborate multiroom, trilevel sets that reportedly cost $350,000 to construct. The film made more than enough at the box office to cover that expense. Karyn Kupcinet, daughter of Irv Kupcinet, nationally syndicated columnist, appears in her only film role before her early death. leave a comment
