Lewis heads for California after being jilted by the girl he loves. He decides he will become a woman-hater, but this becomes tough when he gets a job in a boardinghouse full of vivacious ladies. They're all crazy about him, thinking that he's a lovable moron. (They're half right.) He's afraid, though, that he's not wanted and prepares to leave, but the women persuade him to stay.
