LA STRADA | ROAD, THE

Deeply lyrical and tremendously moving. Federico Fellini was at the top of his form here, as was his wife and frequent star, Giulietta Masina. Her brilliant pantomime as a dim but pure-hearted young woman who's bought by circus strongman Anthony Quinn to be his assistant caused her to be dubbed a female Chaplin.
