A reasonably entertaining low-budget crime thriller, L.A. HEAT centers on Los Angeles cop Jon Chance (Lawrence-Hilton Jacobs). His troubles start with a drug stakeout that turns bloody when the suspect, Clarence (Kevin Benton), kills Chance's partner and escapes. When Chance sets a
second trap for Clarence with an undercover drug buy, three more cops are killed and Clarence escapes once again, getting away with both the police department's money and the drugs. Chance's captain (Jim Brown) gives him a 72-hour deadline to bring Clarence in, but the bloodshed escalates. On the
genre level, L.A. HEAT is rather tepid. The plot is really too complicated for its own good....
