A bland criminal drama that seems to attack the upper class purely as a reflex, falling into the usual "suffering bourgeoise" cliches. Deneuve is a member of the posh Murri family whose marriage to a man appalls her brother Giannini, a highly respected lawyer and Socialist leader. He
decides to murder Deneuve's husband, placing the family under heavy scrutiny and putting pressure on their father, Rey, a popular intellectual and doctor. Based on an actual murder case, the characters and the ensuing trial bring forth all the evils of the class system but never succeed in holding
interest as anything more than a sociopolitical exercise.
