La Chinoise

A heavily political picture which, in typical Godardian fashion, favors the distancing practices of Bertolt Brecht and an interest in contemporary culture over narrative expectations. What little story there is has Wiazemski, the leader of a revolutionary student quintet, planning and ultimately bungling an assassination attempt by mistaking apartment number 23 for 32, thereby killing the wrong man. More important, however, is Godard's acute examination of the political climate of the period.
