An odd picture you either love or hate about a spiteful but loving ex-wife (Thulin) who is visited by the husband she divorced years earlier (Ventura). Ventura attempts to buy the country house Thulin got as part of the settlement, but he is promptly locked in a cage in the cellar. She then confesses her love for him, to which Ventura responds that it was her possessiveness that sent him packing. She obviously hasn't changed much over the years, and the audience can't build up much sympathy. It comes as a pleasant surprise when Thulin lets gas fill the house and is inadvertently blown up when a postman (who happens to be carrying her alimony check) drops buy and rings the doorbell. Played in part as a comedy, it still leaves much to be desired. leave a comment
