East plays the young novelist Jack London in his encounter with the great northern wilderness, the inspiration for many of his stories. Unused to the rugged ways of the north, East gets into several misadventures because of his naivete, one being a run-in with Steiger, a priest gone bad. The film fails to capture the enthusiasm London must have felt for this rugged landscape. leave a comment
