This sequel to KISS AND TELL borrows heavily from another Shirley Temple vehicle, THE BACHELOR AND THE BOBBY SOXER (1947), although this time David Niven rather than Cary Grant is the object of teenager Temple's affection. Niven is somewhat amused by the young girl's antics until Temple's father (Tully) believes there's more going on than there really is. Not nearly as enjoyable as KISS AND TELL, and hardly in the same league as the Temple/Grant vehicle, this is an altogether uninspired effort. Temple made three other films in 1949 (MR. BELVEDERE GOES TO COLLEGE, THE STORY OF SEABISCUIT, and ADVENTURE IN BALTIMORE) before calling it a career as she was unable to capture the success she had enjoyed as a child star. leave a comment
