A quintessential gangster film for Paramount, featuring their three biggest bad men on the lot: Naish, Tamiroff, and Quinn. Tamiroff is a mob boss in Chinatown. He's convinced henchman Quinn has double-crossed him by having one of his fighters lose a heavily wagered match. He sends Naish to show Quinn a proper response, but instead Quinn talks Naish into conspiring to kill Tamiroff and then splitting his territories 50-50.
