Savage is a young man just released from prison on a trumped-up rape charge. Ten years inside have hardened him; all he can think about is revenge on Roman, the lawyer whose ineptitude got him incarcerated, and Bernard, his accuser. He settles in his mother Sothern's boarding house where the roomers include Williams of TV's "Laverne and Shirley." He manages to get Roman drunk and sets her house on fire. Sothern suspects her son's up to no good, but when he kills Williams, she helps him dispose of the body. It's a weird little film, definitely not for everyone. Savage's portrait of the psychotic young man is riveting, and Sothern is good in her role as well. Though the film gets predictable toward the end, the director handles the subject well. leave a comment
