JAWS rip-off coproduced by a company jointly owned by Majors and his then-wife, the immortally blond Farrah Fawcett. This movie ranks as one of the best stereotype casting jobs in film history. The story has evil Franciscus hiding some diamonds in a lake full of man-eating piranhas. Other gang members go after the rocks but are gobbled in the expected gory fashion, which gets more disgusting with each new victim. The story is compounded by appropriate romantic interludes as some glamorous fashion models and a photo crew arrive at the luxury resort hotel where the criminals are staying. The already-skeletal Hemingway and Berenson appear to offer little nourishment for the ferocious fish. Though well directed and acted (considering the talents displayed), this is a disgusting film. Directed by the same man who gave us CANNIBALS IN THE STREET. leave a comment
