This ribald, slang-filled British import, an idiotic satire of the teen music scene, is an absolute jaw-dropper. Hormonally hyperactive British adolescents Kevin (Harry Enfield) and Perry (Kathy Burke, a woman playing a teenage boy) have two goals: to score with girls and to become dance-club rhythm masters. Rebelling against his patient parents, insolent Kevin dreams of vacationing in Ibiza, Spain, and making his mark in the continental discos there. Naturally, he doesn't want to waste time working to earn the fare, but fortune smiles during a bank robbery. Horny Kevin's errant erection triggers an under-table security alarm and, hailed as a hero, he uses the reward money to buy music equipment and accepts airline tickets as a gift from his proud parents. With his folks as unwelcome escorts, Kevin heads for the beach resort with Perry. First the boys hook up with two groupies, Candice (Laura Fraser) and Gemma (Tabitha Wady), whom they try to impress. Then they meet their idol, DJ Eyeball Paul (Rhys Ifans), who influences popular teen tastes throughout Europe. Promising that he'll listen to their music mix, Eyeball Paul puts the starry-eyed adolescents to work as toadies while plotting embarrass them by exposing their god-awful taste. Perry, who's obsessed with Kevin's mom, videotapes Kevin's parents' "doing it;" Eyeball Paul confiscates the video and, as Kevin's mom and dad watch helplessly, screens their middle-aged romp on giant screens at the dance club to the accompaniment of Kevin's music mix. Can the boys ever overcome this public humiliation and contrive an appropriate comeuppance for Eyeball Paul? Like the countless awful feature-film spin-off from America's Saturday Night Live, this expanded version of a sketch from the brilliant British TV series Enfield and Chums falls flat. Awash in pratfalls and scatological humor, this odious feature invents a new sub-category of comedy: scat-stick.
