Working-class steelworker McCrea marries rich girl Mackaill. He has saved two people in a factory accident, so the boss invites him for dinner. The boss' daughter is impressed and decides she'll land him in a month's time. After the marriage McCrea becomes the man of the title as his wife's extravagances easily eat away at his salary and his ego. But he wins back his self-esteem and her respect by the end as they agree to live on his salary alone. Somewhat dull and rather witless, this film reflects the typical chauvinism of the era. leave a comment
