McCormack appeared two years earlier in Mervyn LeRoy's THE BAD SEED as a rotten vermin of a child. In KATHY O' she plays a similar role, as an insolent child star "loved by millions, yet loved by no one." When she refuses to be bossed around by studio publicist Duryea, he nearly has to
bribe her to do an interview with his ex-wife, columnist Sterling. McCormack takes kindly to the lady, however, and eventually runs away from home to be with her. Complications arise, and Duryea gets arrested for kidnapping, but everybody's happy at the end as McCormack turns over a new leaf. A
warm-hearted, well-handled effort.
