Kansas

This predictable melodrama is the tale of two young drifters brought together by fate on a boxcar rumbling through the wind-blown wheat fields of the American heartland. Dillon, a gregarious ex-con, persuades McCarthy to return with him to his small Kansas hometown. Before he knows what's happening, McCarthy is drawn in to Dillon's robbery of the local bank, and, pursued by police, the two flee and then split up. In the interim McCarthy falls in love with an attractive young woman, Hope, rescues the governor's young daughter from certain death, and becomes a local celebrity.
