Hayden is an Army engineer sent by the government to oversee the construction of the Kansas Pacific railroad line. In the period before the outbreak of the Civil War, the laying of the tracks is hampered by southern sympathizers who don't want the railway to stretch to the West Coast. There
are an equal number of northerners doing all they can to keep it moving. Photographed in color by Neumann and directed by Nazarro, this essentially is just a big budgeted B western.
