Not recommended for the Robin Williams-intolerant, JUMANJI is an in-your-face kiddie spectacular with plenty of noise, hectic activity, and dizzying special effects. It's about a mysterious board game that unleashes both Williams and the sinister forces of the
jungle to wreak havoc on a sleepy suburb. Kids love it -- it's as relentlessly brash and colorful as a 32-bit video game -- and adults won't be bored, although a handful of Tylenols may come in handy. Regrettably, however, the weird elegance of Chris Van Allsburg's much-praised picture book has
been all but lost in translation.
