Instantly dubbed "Judge Dreddful" by Hollywood wags, this clunky, infantile rip-off of far superior films -- notably BATMAN and ROBOCOP -- isn't helped by Sylvester Stallone's embarassingly awkward performance. With sets and costumes that could have been designed by Albert Speer, JUDGE DREDD's futuristic supercop fantasy would warm the hearts of neo-Nazis everywhere if it weren't so consistently ludicrous. Directed by Danny Cannon, a Hollywood-mad fresh kid from the UK whose impressive debut was 1994's THE YOUNG AMERICANS. leave a comment
