Joy Of Sex

1984, Movie, R, 93 mins

A shockingly awful teenage sex comedy that couldn't be more inappropriately titled. It concerns a group of high schoolers at Richard Nixon High. Naturally, the only thing on these kids' minds is sex. Dye is an energetic youngster who will try almost anything to lose his virginity. He is attracted to Meyrink, the daughter of the most feared physical education teacher ever to walk the earth, Lloyd. Dye is duly intimidated but finds himself risking his life to win Leslie. In the meantime Richard Nixon High is up for grabs. A glue phantom is vandalizing the school by affixing the most unlikely objects in the most unlikely places. To further complicate matters an undercover narcotics agent (Camp) is preparing a massive drug bust. Although some of the characters may sound humorous, nothing in JOY OF SEX is funny. Every single line of dialog, every gag, and every scene is dependent on sex for its laugh. The humor is crude and relies on such crass ploys as gastric explosions, frigidity, and vile language. The only thing worthwhile is the final two minutes, when Dye and Meyrink finally become real. leave a comment
