Journey To Shiloh

Caan and six other young volunteers from west Texas set out to join the Confederate army during the middle of the Civil War, riding hundreds of miles to get to Tennessee in time for the battle of Shiloh. Calling themselves the Concho County Comanches, the naively eager volunteers encounter class prejudice and miscellaneous perils along the way. Caan is wounded during the battle of Shiloh and wakes up to find his arm amputated. He hears that the only other survivor of his little group, Sarrazin, has deserted and is being hunted.
