Trintignant, Fulton, and Riviere are mining engineers whose helicopter is forced down in the Sahara by a storm. They land near a nuclear test site and save local sheik Nazzari's life. He leads them to a secret cave which is the entrance to the lost city of Atlantis. Harareet, the queen of Atlantis, takes a cruel liking to her unexpected guests.
