1985, Movie, R, 118 mins

A highly personal story based on Mordecai Richler's book and adapted by the author, JOSHUA THEN AND NOW spans four decades, and much of the story takes place in the Jewish section of Montreal. James Woods is a well-known author and media personality in a crisis. His wife, Gabrielle Lazure, has left him; his brother-in-law, Michael Sarrazin, has died; and he has been implicated wrongly in a homosexual love affair with British author Ken Campbell. The picture then flashes back to how all of this came to be. This is an intelligent, interesting, provocative movie that was quite unlike the usual type of teenage picture being made in the middle 1980s. leave a comment
