Williams, a 12-year-old Alaskan descended from the Tlingit Eskimos, guides a geologist through rugged country until the man falls and breaks his leg. Williams then sets off in his canoe to find his father, Stitt, who has left for the northern seal grounds. Along the way Williams sees
grizzly bears and sperm whales. Entering a huge sea of ice, the boy becomes afraid of evil spirits, but he overcomes Kush Ta Ka, the spirit of fear, finds his father, and saves the geologist. Some nice scenery, but strictly for the kids.
