Cassel is a young Parisian who finds joy in everything and everyone he meets--especially the numerous young ladies with whom he falls madly in love. He lives with Palau, his ever-encouraging uncle; Wilson, his brother; and Wilson's wife, Cluny, who once was Cassel's lover. The home is also shared by Tonietti the maid, four massive dogs, and Cassel's two beloved illegitimate children. When Cassel meets Aimee, the wife of a rich industrialist, he once more falls in love, but she spurns him. Cassel responds by playing a mournful tune on a bassoon and waiting for death. Aimee is charmed by this odd behavior, and she and Cassel run off together. Cassel's happiness is short-lived, however, as Aimee proves to be a complainer and frigid to boot. At film's end, Cassel heads off once more, this time with a young waitress. A nice light story, just right for the hopelessly romantic. leave a comment
