O'Brien and Morris are two former partners-in-crime. Morris turns O'Brien in on a five-year-old murder charge during a police crackdown. O'Brien goes on the run, trying to find his ex-comrade and make him change his story. He hides in an abandoned house, along with Reed and her dog, Johnny One-Eye. Eventually the two partners meet and have it out in a gun battle. Based on a Damon Runyon story, with all of his standard characters and situations in tow, the film starts out well but drops off rapidly. Florey's pace is too slow, but there is some good location shooting in New York, and the acting is fine. leave a comment
