Johnny Dark

Johnny Dark (Tony Curtis) designs a race car for an independent automobile manufacturer, but discovers that he is being used by the company's owner (Sidney Blackmer) as a pawn in a battle against a stockholder (Pierre Watkin). Angered, Johnny steals the car and enters a Canada-to-Mexico cross-country race in which his main competition is an ex-buddy (Don Taylor). Everyone knows who's going to win the big race, but director George Sherman keeps things interesting along the way with some exciting action footage, and, for those who like romance mixed with their racing, there's a subplot involving Curtis and Piper Laurie.
