Charlesworth is a 14-year-old boy who assists Young at his carnival medicine booth in 18th-century England. He assumes the man is his father but is kidnaped by evil uncle Garth and discovers he has inherited an important title. Actually Garth wants the title for himself and, after the boy
manages to escape, starts a fire that kills Young. Led by Clegg, the carnival strongman, a fight ensues between the good and bad forces. Charlesworth is brought to trial, but parish records prove his true background and he inherits his title. Though this nice story was released in Britain in 1952,
American audiences didn't see it until 10 years later.
