The title tells the tale in this quirky little film based on a Damon Runyon story. When a local postman is suspended for destroying a letter to shield his childhood sweetheart from some unhappiness, the local Flatbush neighborhood is up in arms. Not satisfied with the actions taken, Gargan and Sothern take their case to fatherly Chief of State Stone. The story is told in flashback and Stone reinstates the postman. The couple's bickering in the Oval Office (and Stone's reactions), as well as the flashback storytelling, makes this an enjoyable and amusing little film. Watch for Shean, famed vaudevillian and uncle to the Marx Brothers, in a minor role. leave a comment
