Reality and fantasy collide in this effervescent family picture, based on a Canadian TV series about a disgruntled young celebrity who switches places with the superhero he plays on TV. Jett Jackson (Lee Thompson Young) seems to be the boy who has everything: loving parents, high school popularity and a starring role on a popular fantasy TV program. But Jett misses being a normal kid, especially after night shooting makes it impossible for him to take his dream date to the prom. Meanwhile, his TV charcter, Silverstone, has his hands full in another dimension. With his partner, Hawk (Lindy Booth), Silverstone upholds an oath to safeguard the world against the evil Dr. Kragg (Michael Ironside), who sucks out the souls of city-dwellers so he can control the zombified populace. When electricity zaps Jett during filming, Jett and his doppleganger, Silverstone, magically land in each other's worlds! Jett can't get his mind around the fact that Silverstone actually exists in a parallel universe known as the "Mission Omega Matrix," while Silverstone is faced with gentler challenges in Jett's world — cafeteria food, pop quizzes and bullies. Jett's first thought is that he's simply wandered onto a bigger budgeted set, while Silverstone confuses some actors with their villainous roles. Naturally, Silverstone's cohorts and Jett's classmates are mystified by the uncharacteristic behavior each displaced teen displays. Along the way, the overtaxed adolescent and the intergalactic savior learn to appreciate their respective lifestyles. Imagine a children's film that might have made Pirandello smile! This story of intricately overlapping realities keeps viewers on their toes without being confusing, and is blessed with crisp editing and breezy direction. leave a comment --Robert Pardi
