Martin's film debut, released at the height of the comedian's popularity. He is cast as a poor "black" boy, raised in the South by a black family, only to discover one day that he is really white. After struggling for a time, he decides to hitchhike to fame and fortune. Acting like the
ultimate jerk (the title truly lives up to the character), Martin finds unlimited luxury when an invention of his--glasses that won't slip off the nose--brings in oodles of cash. His tragic downslide occurs when it is medically proven that the glasses cause wearers' eyes to cross.
