Adapted from the Broadway play by Louis Verneuil, this film, set in France, was fraught with difficulties. The leading lady was Eagels, an actress with a big following at the time; the original leading man was Anthony Bushell. But after shooting a version with him, Eagels was dissatisfied, and demanded that another version be shot with March opposite her.
