Kazan the wonder dog comes to the rescue when Sullivan discovers that her prospector father (McKee) has been murdered by Walker, a man they had accepted as their close friend. The story starts with Walker driving McKee to a hidden mine, but returning with the excuse that McKee has gotten a ride from someone else. A full year passes without any message from McKee, and only Kazan acts in a manner distrustful of Walker, proving that a dog's instincts far outweigh man's analytical ability.
