Island In The Sky

Wayne, a veteran flier for the Army Transport Command, is forced to crash land in uncharted Labrador after ice weighs down the wings of his plane. He and a crew of four find themselves trapped in a snowy, subfreezing environment with little hope of being found. A rescue mission made up of Wayne's buddies sets out and nearly locates the wreck. On the ground, Wayne tries to keep the crew's morale up while fighting the elements. After refueling, the rescue mission sets out again and this time is successful. While sometimes talky, the script does a fine job of showing men battling nature. Exceptional performances, especially from the rescue team, are a plus. Coproduced...
